Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund Welcomes Shelley Babington

May 15, 2026

The Alabama Opportunity Scholarship Fund is excited to welcome Shelley Babington to the team as part of the organization’s growing Choice Navigators Program.

With 22 years of classroom experience, Shelley has dedicated her career to helping children prepare for success and guiding families through important educational decisions. Throughout her time in both public and private school settings, she has seen firsthand how overwhelming school choice options can feel for parents seeking the best fit for their child.

In her new role, Shelley will serve as a trusted resource for Alabama families and schools, helping them navigate educational opportunities including the CHOOSE Act, AAA tax credit scholarships, and other school choice options for Alabama families. She will also be working with schools across the state to prepare for the new EFTC tax credit program launching in January 2027.

The Choice Navigators Program was created to help families better understand their options and confidently pursue the educational path that meets their child’s unique needs. Shelley’s experience, compassion, and deep understanding of education make her a natural fit for this work.

There’s a lingering misconception that private or Catholic schools aren’t equipped to serve students with disabilities. In Auburn, Alabama, one Catholic school is quietly proving otherwise. As an AOSF partner school and the only Catholic school within a 50-mile radius, St. Michaels Catholic School is offering families something increasingly rare: strong academics, intentional faith formation, and a learning environment that welcomes students with a range of learning needs, including dyslexia, hearing impairments, and vision challenges. And they’re not just “making it work.” They’re building a model designed for it.
